Adventures of 2011..

Whilest being in Oregon I've learned to shoot.  Let me just say that for 97% of my life I have been petrified of guns and seeing them in my household hasn't given me a sense of protection, its given me minor anxiety.  This has changed.  Might make a good majority of my family, either being marines or cops, quite proud.  I've had a couple friends tell me they would take me shooting because I have, in the past year, been interested in just shooting a gun (hahah, freudian slip & said "guy") for fun BUT coming up to OR, I have family that just shoots in their backyard (being a mountain) and offered to lend their expertise to SO....

Putting a shotgun in my hands and setting up 2 targets they explained how to load the gun, line up the target and whatnot, BOOM... after my first shot I felt like a kid at Christmas and my eyes lit up.  I turned to Meg, mom & Daddy Rich and said "MORE", which they were pleased with.  Leading to my 6 for 6 with a shotgun.
This is when I realized I wanted guns.
The following morning as Meg n Rose slept, I chatted with mom & DR, had some coffee and relaxed for about an hour before DR said "Hey, do you wanna go shoot some squirrels" and I was dressed and ready to go within 10 minutes. We drove out to his friends ranch and grabbed another gun and he explained what we were looking for, "they look like squirrels but their tail is about 2" long and they make this noise *enter noise that sounds like a bird* and we call them 'squeeks'."  Color me happy, give me some bullets and show me the way.
We drove out on to Johns land where its heavily populated by squeeks and DR gave me a gun with a scope and offered to have me shoot w/o a scope but I wanted to learn how to use one so I said "nay".  Took me a couple shots before I was used to the gun and scope but when I got my first squeek I was beyond thrilled.  I do believe my 2hr total ended around 20-25 and I was proud :)  John was giving me shit because there was a a short period where I couldn't find any squeeks and when I finally shot "you finally fucking shot!" hahaha.  What made it better was DR said that in the summer they usually go out there with a cooler full of beer and spend the day hanging out and offin squeeks and told me to let him know the next time I planned on visiting so they could get extra bullets!  I am SO excited to come back/go back and learn to shoot better, I never thought I'd be so excited and all about it!

Unfortunately I didn't have my camera charger & got no pictures of the squeek firecrackers, therefore this concludes Reggies - Addiction to Guns entry.

Bye Bye Baby...

I guess this months resolution is to de-clutter and come Monday the front of the house will be de-cluttered as Emma will be moving to her new home.

Will try to not cry but no promises to be made.

Hello Fools.

Spring has begun, baseball is here.  I've been thinking about my resolution for April and I do believe I'll be looking at jobs in SF.  I'd like to envision myself in LA or NY, but right now I'm taking baby steps and being realistic.
I'd also like to point out my ridiculous excitement for

CADBURY EGG SEASON!!!

xxo

PS:  Here are a couple recipes for a Cadbury treat

Low Budget Rules.

I just finished watching Monsters, and I think its probably one of the better movies I've seen as of late, aside from Kings Speech & Rango.  No crazy cgi, all edited and put together by one guy (mostly) and great improve & acting by the two actors.

On another note, I've been doing fairly well with my monthly resolution.  I've been working out every day for about an hour and I've just finished 2 more scarves and doing a decent job of putting a dent into my yarn stash.  I didn't get my pictures taken yet, like I had said I was going to because 1) There was no space left on my camera and never got around to taking pics off and 2) I keep telling myself "tomorrow".  So I'm hoping this weekend that I get at least a couple more items listed.

Just the other day I remembered the Pay It Forward project that I'm doing and that I need to get myself more organized about it.  The whole thing started with a random friend of mine and seeing it posted as her status on FB, then I posted it and decided that "5 people isn't enough" and doubled my PIFs.  I have all of this year to send them something which means I shouldn't feel behind, but I do.  With my list of people, some random ideas, alls I need is to get crackin.

Off to watch a bad horror flick and drink coffee at 11:40pm. Good night.

M'Funday

Here's your dose of music, movies, & shit.
  • The Alter Boys
  • The Fun Lovin Criminals

  • Parachutes - Your Stories  (go get your free download!!)
  • Mono - Follow the Map
  • Laura Marley - Cross Your Fingers
  • Brodka - Excipit
  • Kate Nash - Dickhead
  • El Perro Del Mar
  • The Snake the Cross the Crown - Hey Jim

Through my continual exploration of chick music, I've found some random dudes.  At this exact moment, a ginger has been thrown in my direction.  I'm pretty sure I'm not into his music but as for his looks, I'm slightly intrigued. Yes, add it to my odd attractions:
wait for it...

If nothing else, you've gotta at least give some credit to that hair.  Holy wow, I wish I had hair that just stood up like that, its absolutely amazing!!  I'm not tellin ya to go listen to his music or anything just give the ginger some recognition for walking around hair that gives me intense flashbacks ...

On another note; movies.  Firstly I'd like to say do not see "the Quiet", its awful and predictable but was one of those covers I saw at the movie joint and stuck in my mind so I subjected myself to bad cinema, and Edie Falcos boobs.  If you like random movies check out The Saddest Music In The World, it took me a minute to get into it, then it was just a weird ride that I couldn't stop.  Lastly, I have to bash this into your heads:  go see *The Kings Speech !!!
Seriously.  I finally got around to devoting the time to watching the whole thing and I absolutely loved it.  Oscar well deserved *cough*hurt locker*cough* both to Colin & best film.  Well done Brits, I love you.

I'd like to take a moment to say that I've achieved a solid week of working out and yarning, every-single-day!!  I'm trying to blog, or write down bits to blog.  I've been trying to work up some collages of ideas for Megs wedding and accidentally getting sucked into that for a while :x  Seems like it can be said that thus far I've had 2 months and 1 week of solid resolution-ating!  I'm going to go pat myself on the back and watch The Green Hornet whilst working on an orange beanie, wee!

This is my friend Chloe,

Ever Awesome

She has blessed me by making some awesome banners & turning me into a cartoon for my etsy.  She's also given me the honor of enjoying my yarn goodies herself.  OhChloe, how I love you and thank you again, times 77.

Today,
is February First Two-Thousand and Eleven.

My resolution for this month* is to get my blogging back in gear. Since I was at a yarn block earlier in the night, technically being January, I decided I'd get my self occupied with a new habit. Or I should say a renewed habit. I made a 2 hour attempt to take my blog out of the darkness and finally got rid of my wonky music player, updated my blog lists, added some new friends and brought some colour up in the place. Along with my blogging, I'm getting back into my lists, my other addiction next to yarn.

  • work on scarf, or monster
  • clean Optimus' bowl
  • do an update (and thank you) for January
  • get addresses for my Pay It Forwards
  • plot gifts
  • try and go get meds for Emma
  • watch one foreign flick, (possibly Luck or The Virgin Spring)

For now, I'm going to listen to some more Mondo Cane and window-tab shop.

xxo

*Monthly resolutions suit my taste better than one, year long resolution.

Perfect way to start my Tuesday and month,

lovely indeed.

2/2/10

So Long January...

I think I'm going to do a resolution per month. Sounds fun and so far I've accomplished my "resolution" for January. If I choose to continue the resolution throughout the year, hot damn!! I'll complete 12 resolutions.

So for January, I pretty much wanted to take it easy. Not be stressed, not let things get to me as easily as I normally do. Don't be bothered with the little things, take a second to cool off before getting all crazy. I think I can say I pretty much did just that, minus the 4-5 days I had minor "spells" around the 20th, but I still managed to use it for motivation.

I had a bitchen birthday. The wife took me to SF to wander about and have drinks and be merry. That is exactly what we did. We parked in the TL (which we both have concluded is NOT that bad, just don't talk to the homeless) and hoofed it down to see Alex at Apple, then back to the TL to pay off the rest (or so we thought) of the meter time. Then on our merry ways to a pub Alex had told us about. Ordered myself some Jameson, and the wife a Guinness & portobello mushroom burger. We had a grand lil time chatting, then I got a lovely surprise when PB (Dan, for those who don't know him by my given nickname) called me to wish me happy birthday, "I hear it's your birthday. You're what? *pause* 22" hahah. Love that kid. Then after a couple or 3 more Jameson, we made friends with Giovanni and his friend Sean. Awesomely nice dudes. After about 20 minutes, Sean and Erika leave to go get me something. "If the bar sings to her, will it embarrass her?" "Yes" "Lets go, I ordered something". So's I chat with Gio and loose track of what had been previously talked about, then I hear it... "Happy Birthday...", the whole pub of random people. "God, that's really embarrasing" I think, then remember "SHIT! It's MY birthday". I swing around and there's Erika holding a big cupcake with a HUGE candle in it and Sean orchestrating the bar in song. I laugh, cover my face, blow out the candle and bow to applause. I hear the story of "they had no candles, so Sean took one out of a candelabra" and "I hope you like calamari, because I ordered you some." Amazing!!! So we 4 work on the cupcake which is outrageously good and rich and full of yum (and found out later, was from Buca Di Beppo, look out!) Then Sean and Gio say "O.K. Time to go, we're taking you girls ice skating! It's your birthday, you gotta do something fun!!!" We're stoked, all full of liquor and cupcake and we all head to the ice skating rink. It had been such a good night thus far, I wasn't even upset when there was a kids hockey league practicing and we could only watch and eat the calamari.
After all of this excitement, the boys offer to walk us toward the car and we're again, on our merry way. All comes to a halt when we get to "the car" and its not our car. We'd been towed! It was a tow away zone (sign we had not seen) and we were without vehicle. Sean is kind enough to help the wife get a hold of the people and give us directions to the impound. We all say our goodbyes (in front of Whiskey Thieves, so sad we didn't make it in), and we head out because we have about 40 minutes before the impound fee goes up.

Really long story so far, but it was an adventure of a night, so deal... We get the car, head back to the valley and meet up with Chelle at Wingstop. Only it's not just Chelle. It's Chelle, Brandon, Suzy, Michael, Gabe, Crystal & 2 friends. I get hugs and multiple birthday beers & a sweet dinosaur bag w/ a HP shirt in it from Suzy <3 After a bit, we all part and I head to Vierra's with Gabe, singing Lil Wayne the whole way. We arrive to a handful of Happy Birthdays and a few glasses of birthday Jameson.

Night ended when I saw Danny and got hugs and had to do the unthinkable. Call the mom for a ride because I had no car and everyone was drunk. Well, everyone that was drunk, met my mom and she invited them over for dinner sometime soon (my mom loves cooking for people).

Gotta say, good day, good night, good people!

That pretty much summed up the "epic" part of January. I also got invited to work at a craft fair and had an interview and am looking into the SF move (possibly), along with a handful of orders I've been busy with.

    Sooooooooooo... fare-thee-well, January
and let's do this up right, February!!

love, reggie

Click.

The morning of this photo, it clicked that I have no interest in looking for "someone else".  Already found someone.  Now I'm working on the rest.  Then hopefully making it all work out.

    It was a good Monday.
