I'm so happy!  I got to talk to a handful of friends tonight that I haven't had much contact with recently.  Its awesome knowing that people who've been in your life at one point or another still think of you.  I wish I had a couple million bucks so I could gather up my friends and take them on a Disneyland tour!  How amazing would that be, the people that make you happiest and going to the happiest place(s) on earth - and of course a pit stop at Wizarding World Of Harry Potter (duh).

    Enjoy some random songs:
  • Daniel Blomqvist - Juninatt
  • Etta James - Don't Take Your Love From Me
  • Asleep - The Smiths
  • Easily Embarrassed - Little Trees and Fantasies

    Zombie Day

I'm going to start by saying Happy Zombie Jesus Day!  Given the theme of the day I do believe watching zombie movies while drinking some beer & coffee sounds in order and of course watch my boys play at 1.  But for right now I'm going to take the opportunity to pre-game my M'Fuckin Monday and introduce you to an amazing lil' band by the name of Dead Mans Bones.

Just by photo, how could you not be drawn in??

The band consists of Ryan Gosling his friend & the Silverlake Childrens Choir.  The first time I heard the way he sings and then the kids singing along, I was hooked.  Done.  Check.  Today it was just by lucky chance as I posted my status update that this song came on:

I would highly recommend listening to an actual copy of the song, but the clip was fun & I love those kids!  I'll also use the lead into saying you should see Blue Valentine if you haven't.  Incredible, uncomfortable, realistic & a dash of Ryan singing :x

So lets see, heres some of what I may watch today & some of my all around favorite zombies:
    • Night of the Living Dead (og) *
    • Return of the Living Dead
    • Evil Dead *
    • Zombieland *
    • Dead Snow *
    • White Zombie *
    • Shaun of the Dead
    • 28 Days Later
    • Dead Alive *
    • Fido
    • Day of the Dead (og)
    • Dawn of the Dead (old & new)
    • The Walking Dead
    • Planet Terror
    • Boy Eats Girl * ... but I'm going to start with:
    • Deadgirl *
For your viewing pleasure I'd also like to share something with you that one of my best friends showed me a few years ago.  Its absolutely amazing and if you're not intrigued by mentalism prior to this, you should be after watching this video.  Its in 2 parts (thankfully someone uploaded and HQ verision) so make sure you watch them both because it is just fantastic.

Enjoy your zombie day!  Brains & Beer.

    Stretched Thin

I haven't been as on my game as I would like to have been.  I have indeed been crocheting a lot and now that I'm taking a breather and trying to remain calm ...
    (source:  PosterPop on Etsy)
I'm going to make an attempt at a real blog update!  For the past few weeks I've been attempting to make this faux grass rug for a friend of mine and its done nothing but make me want to pull the hair out of my head.  I've always been a hands on / tutorial kinda girl, reading patterns or diagrams frustrates me and I hit boiling point at ridiculous speed.  So consulting with friends and looking up random tutorials online, it seemed 99% positive and that everything was being done right and that there was no need for me to worry, only I couldn't stop.  After starting multiple other projects to calm myself and take my mind off of the rug from hell (its not actually that bad, but I get worked up), I finally sat down a few nights ago and tweaked the pattern to make it my own and FINALLY have complete faith in it and that it will stay together (which was my fear, that it'd unravel as soon as he walked on it).  I give you a sneak preview of the Grass rug:

I've also taken up making granny squares to use up all my bits of random yarn.  May just make a pile of them or some day decide to make an actual afghan or something of that nature.  Lets not get started on my new MLB obsession and/or the fact that I cannot stop buying Giants colors.  Just observe.

    A Single Man

The other day at the car wash, a young man looked me up and down and
asked me if I was a natural blonde.

    -What did you say?

I looked him straight in the eye and I said "well lets just say if I
stood on my head I'd be a natural brunette, with lovely breathe"

    -You didn't?!

I did. And the amusing thing, it went right over his head.

    Aside from my brains suicide

My morning isn't too bad.  I have a Giants game in 2 hours and some fresh coffee (which I'm hoping brings my brain back from the edge).  Then I stumbled upon this on a friends page and it completely made my morning.

      Mermaids & Faeries!!!

So I'm doing this 30 Day Challenge - Disneyland thing on Tumblr and as soon as I started I have been waiting for the "Whats Your Favorite Extinct Attraction" to come along.  Every time I remember Disneyland from my childhood, the first thing I think of is the Submarine Voyage!  I always remember how excited I'd get seeing mermaids (huge fascination as a child, thanks to my Sis In Law) and the shark wrestling an octopus (I would love to meet the person who bought this at the auction, can you imagine! I'd have it in my pool), it was just the coolest thing on earth!  Hands down was my favorite thing in the land of happiness and would quite possibly be the same now IF they didn't eff things up and make it Nemos Voyage.  If you asked me what they should have changed it to, I'd have said The Little Mermaid.  No questions.  Anyhow:

How cool were the mermaids?!  Short lived due to chlorine and guys jumping in the lagoon but the idea was genius and I can guarantee you if it was still around, my job would be a Disneyland mermaid.

Needless to say that I'm THRILLED about the new Ariels Undersea Adventure!  When I saw that they had taken out a huge chunk of Paradise Pier and it was to be replaced with The Little Mermaid, I felt like I was 5 again!  Seriously, I may cry when it opens, I'm that excited!
Watch that and tell me you're not jazzed for June 3rd 2011 to get here, tomorrow!  If not sooner, I will definitely be at Disneyland in June with Evelia and her baby girl.  I will meet Amelie and bond with her over The Little Mermaid, maybe I can be to her what my sis in law was to me?

I leave you now with a picture of Tinkerbell because lets face it, shes cute and makes you smile
      Looking good at 71yrs old
A video of Tiny Kline (42), 29 years before becoming Tink

Not sure if its Tiny, but shes a cutie.

From Yesterday (30stm unintentional pun), April 5 2011.

I heard today (April 5) was the day Kurt passed away 17 years ago. Can't believe it's been that long. So grateful for his contribution and inspiration. Not sure I'd be doing this if it weren't for him. He gave us all permission to create no matter what our skill set and reminded me that dreams are possible. Thanks for that. This made me recall a short piece of film I shot when I heard they were making a film celebrating his life. I made it to explore the character and explore creative possibilities. I never sent it to the studio or to anyone but thought I'd share it now...

Oh, lets not forget to expand our vocabulary!

The Word of the Day for April 4 is:
      Ruritanian \rur-uh-TAY-nee-un\ adjective
: of, relating to, or having the characteristics of an imaginary place
      of high romance
      Examples:
"The dancers are dressed in vaguely Ruritanian costumes, the men in
military, the women in stiff tutus." -- From an article by John Rockwell
in The New York Times, September 9, 2006

      M'fuckin Monday!!!

Simply because I've been over obsessed with the Black Swan Soundtrack, I don't have much to offer this week on the musical side, so its mostly movies this week.  But first, I would like to spread the good word and give you something that very well could help you with your day, week, life, whatever:

Now on to the films!  Based on real people:
      Documentaries / Food:
      • I Like Killing Flies
      • Blood Into Wine - winos & Maynard fans alike will enjoy this
      Ballet:
      • Black Swan - because there are surprisingly still people who haven't seen it, wtc?
      • Dancing Across Borders - like it or not, ballet is gorgeous to watch
      • Center Stage - my guilty-not-guilty pleasure

Then all I can say on a music standpoint is to add more of these guys to your library:
      • Clint Mansell
      • Janet Jackson
      • Jamiroquai
      • Sam Sparro - for the wife

Todays word is - Ruritanian \rur-uh-TAY-nee-un\ adjective:  of, relating to, or having the characteristics of an imaginary place of high romance

I just cursed at my yarn..

      (via natalie dee)
This was me about 20 minutes ago and it resulted in my pulling the guts out of my yarn and having a HUGE knot to unravel.  Now, yarn spread neatly across my desk, 7 & 7 in my glass and my work it out mix playing, I am ready to conquer this project.  Within a couple weeks I hope that some peoples I know are digging their toes into a plush rug of faux-grass!

The Word of the Day for April 2 is:
      meshuggener \muh-SHUG-uhner\ noun
: a foolish or crazy person

example:  I am a meshuggener because its 10:15 pm and I'm having coffee.

Seriously I feel like a bum.  I didn't work out today, didn't crochet or edit photos.  I didn't even read, which was one thing I was guaranteeing myself of doing this weekend.  Didn't didn't didn't, big fat EFF.  However by chance I did find the soundtrack to Black Swan, that's a plus, along with the amazing shower I just took accompanied by all the LUSH products:  BIG,  Its Raining Men, Veganese and to smell (even more) pretty I dabbed on some Lust (which I love, thank you Wifey).
I suppose its not all bad, just bummed I didn't do my workout mostly.  Seeing as how I've just induced myself with some coffee and the quiet house has my mind on overdrive, I'll probably be up a while and hopefully get some stuff done online.  Fingers crossed.

      Liv Love.

I absolutely adore Liv Tyler.  She's always been on top of it with her style, never over the top, always spot on.  When she cut all her hair off into that cute pixie, I debated short hair.  Then came 2008 and the hair cut that I am determined to have in a year or 2, the amazing 80s bob.
I dedicated this entry to Liv because I saw this photo and then I started having flashes of all the fun choices she's made in clothes via the carpet & the street.
      (via StyleSeenDaily)
To start with this particular outfit I was instantly drawn to her oxfords, I can't wait to get more in my shoe collection and wear em this spring, they're so cute!!  I remember when I went to private school and was made to wear oxfords and I despised them, dreaded the days I wore them, but now they've made their staple on the fashion world and I am definitely more open minded than I was at age 10.  Next, she's wearing denim & high waisted trousers which are both making a big stink this year.  Extremely excited about the high waisted pants because I think they can be dressed up with a nice button up or silk blouse or you can just throw a t shirt on and you're off.

      Hello Fools.

Spring has begun, baseball is here.  I've been thinking about my resolution for April and I do believe I'll be looking at jobs in SF.  I'd like to envision myself in LA or NY, but right now I'm taking baby steps and being realistic.
